Thomas Abraham Johnson, 77, Plumber

Thomas Abraham Johnson, age 77, of Oberlin, died October 27, 2000 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio following a short illness.

He lived all his life in Oberlin. He was a self-employed Master Plumber for 50 years until his recent bad health. Thomas was the founder of the Lorain Medina Ohio Girls Softball Organization. He was an umpire for the Lorain County Baseball and Softball teams. Thomas also coached the 1979 State Champion Schubert Buick Team.

He received the Lifetime Citizen award for Oberlin and was inducted into the Lorain County Bowling Hall of Fame in 1999. Thomas supported various youth services and provided free plumbing to the elderly of Oberlin. Thomas also donated his time to the Habitat for Humanity.

Cowling Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday, November 4, 2000 at 12:00 Noon. The memorial service will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. on November 4, 2000 at the First Church of Oberlin. Rev. Andre Willis will officiate. There will be a private family burial in Westwood Cementary.
