Gilbert "Gil" J. Martinson Jr., 53, Chemical Manager
Gilbert J. (Gil) Martinson Jr., age 53, of Columbia Station, died Wednesday morning at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born July 2, 1947 in Johnson City, New York. He has resided in Columbia Station for the past 14 years and previously a 5 year resident of North Royalton, OH. He was employed by Quaker Chemical as a Chemical Manager for the past year and previously worked for Castrol Burmah for 6 years also as a Chemical Manager.He was an avid bee keeper and was a member of the Lorain County Bee Keepers Association. He also enjoyed growing garlic. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was the 2nd Couselor in Bishopric. He was previously the Young Mens President, High Priest Groupleaders, Stake Sunday School President and Past President of the Seventys at the Seven Hills Ward.
Survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Sarah J. (Vaughn), sons Andrew J (Provo, Utah), Michael K. (Columbia Station, OH), and John G. (Columbia Station, OH) Martinson, daughters (Gretchen L. (Neils) Sorensen (Richland, WA) and Saralyn N. Martinson (Columbia Station, OH). One grandchild, Cora Kathleen Sorenson (Richland, WA). Parents Gilbert J. Sr. and Evelyn E. Martinson (Columbia Station), and a sister Lynne Rosenthal (Arnold) (Longmont, CO).
Funeral service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elyria Ward on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Eric Mahler presiding. Interment at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township, OH. Friends may call at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elyria Ward 12090 S. Durkee Rd., Grafton, OH 44044.
