Luigi Evangelisti, 96, Enjoyed Gardening and Woodworking

Luigi Evangelisti, 96, of Lorain died Sunday, November 5, 2000 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, following a brief illness.

Mr. Evangelisti was born April 27, 1904 in Mt. San Giovanni Campano, Italy, coming to Lorain, Ohio in 1921.

Mr. Evangelisti retired in 1969 after 49 years as a burner with Lake Terminal Railroad in Lorain.

He was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Survivors include his son: John L. Evangelisti of Lorain, 2 granddaughters and 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother-in-law, Leo DiRenzo of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his wife Vera (nee DiRenzo) 5-22-88, his parents Giovanni and Palm (nee Velocci) Evangelisti, a brother, Angelo Evangelisti and a sister Liberata Mancini.

Friends may call at Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Tuesday, November 7, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 8 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Michael Williamson, Associate Pastor officiating.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
