Joseph C. Temerario, 92, Army Veteran
Joseph C. Temerario, 92, of Lorain died Thursday morning, November 9, 2000 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, following a short illness.Mr. Temerario was born May 3, 1908 in Lorain and was a life long resident.
He was the last living member of the 1927 Lake Erie League Championship Football Team.
He attended West Point Plebe in New York, and played football for the field artillery team there.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
He was employed at U.S. Steel as a welder-burner for 39 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain and a life time member of the Italian American Veterans Post #1, in Lorain.
Survivors include his sons: Joseph W. of Cape Coral, FL., and Thomas J. of Lorain, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a brother: Carmel A. Temerario of Washington D.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (nee Jaskulski), his parents Antonio and Nicolina (nee Verducci), brother Carl and sisters: Lena Rosso and Mary Picciatti.
Friends may call at Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, with the Rev. Michael Williamson, Associate Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
