Catherine R. Newkirk, 87

Mrs. Newkirk was born on December 24, 1912 in Johnstown, PA moving to Lorain, then to Youngstown as a young lady and back to Lorain in 1948. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

She retired in 1976 as a secretary at Amherst Manor after 11 years of service. Previous to that she had provided clerical services to Thew Shovel, Lorain Shipyard, St. Joseph Hospital, Telephone Company in Elyria and Ford Motor Corp.

Mrs. Newkirk enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband Richard G. Newkirk to whom she was married in 1944.

Mrs. Newkirk is preceded in death by her parents: Park and Rose (nee Savitch) Vore, and a sister: Francis Springer.

Friends may call at Schwartz, Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio, on Thursday, November 16, 2000 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on November 17, 2000 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at S. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Regis Schlagheck, Pastor will officiate.

Interment services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
