James E. Hreha Sr., 67, Veteran and Ford Inspector
James E. Hreha, Sr., age 67, of Lorain, died Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at his residence following a lengthy illness.Born on October 23, 1933 in Lorain, he resided here his entire life.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1956-1959 as a Specialist 4th Class. Returning from overseas, he worked as an Inspector for the Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
James was a member of the United Auto Workers Local Union 425. He loved all sports and enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing as well as being an avid gardener.
He is survived by his companion of 9 years, Mildred F. Vontorcik of Lorain; his mother, Anna Hreha (nee Ksenich) of Irvine, CA.; 4 sons: James E. Jr. of Lorain, Richard A. of Cranston, R.I, Ronald D. of Asheville, N.C., and
Steve M. Vontorcik of Avon Lake; 2 daughters: Judith A Williams of Louisville, KY and Gloria J. Coe of Olmsted Township; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers: John Jr. of Irvine, CA and David of Irvine, CA; and 1 sister: MaryAnn Collins of Covina, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Hreha in 1981.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2000 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
