Serafin E. Colon, 51, Enjoyed Cooking

Serafin E. Colon, age 51, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at Community Health Partners Hospital - West, following a short illness.

He was born on March 25, 1949 in Morovis, Puerto Rico. He lived in Manhattan, New York from 1952 until coming to Lorain in 1985.

He worked as a cook at Panos Restaurant in Westlake for 2 years before retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he worked in the maintenance department at the Holiday Inn in Elyria.

Mr. Colon enjoyed cooking, cleaning and watching television. He also enjoyed making Mavi, a Spanish homemade wine.

He is survived by his companion of 10 years, Francisca Andujar; 3 brothers, Gilbert, of Lorain, Jose, of Carolina, PR, and Juan Jose of Palatka, Fl; 5 sisters, Carmen Colon, Gloria Caminero, both of Lorain, Zoraida Colon Phillips, of New York City, NY, Virginia Colon, of Bronx, NY, and Juanita Berrios, of Manhattan, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Colon, in 1973, and Gloria (nee Otero), in 1985.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2000, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
