Raymond John Gladys, 87, Cleveland Indians Fan
Raymond John Gladys- - 87 of Avon Lake, passed away, November 26 at his daughter's home in Litchfield after a lengthy illness.Mr. Gladys was born December 21, 1912 in Cleveland and has live in Avon Lake since 1952.
He had worked as a machinist with Warner and Sweasey, Cleveland for 42 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Avon Lake, a member of the Union of Poles, Cleveland and was a life member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers.
He was an avid Cleveland Indian's fan and enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, golf and had played organized softball.
Besides his wife of 54 years, Anna M. (nee Ashyk) he is survived by two daughters Gloria Mielcarek of Avon Lake and Victoria Majstorovic of Litchfield. Other survivors include 4 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jan Gladyszewski and Mary (nee Kwiatkowski), stepfather Martin Marysiak, brothers Harry Gladys, Edward Gladyszewski, sisters, Helen Vejchar and Mildred Faggaini and stepbrother Joseph Marysiak.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Wednesday, November 29, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Prayer service at the funeral home Thursday at 9:15am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 410 Lear Rd., Avon Lake at 10:00am. Rev. James H. Beatty of the church will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
