Robert L. Bartholomew, 77, World War II Veteran

Robert L. Bartholomew, 77, of Vermilion, died Friday, December 1, 2000 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following a short illness.

Born August 27, 1923 in Vermilion, Ohio, he had lived in Buffalo, New York, was a Vermilion resident for 38 years, moving from Parma. He wintered in Mineral Springs, Florida for many years.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.

He was a yard foreman and batch man for Hull Concrete Company in Vermilion for 21 years before retiring in 1979. He also worked for Romps Water Port for 18 years. He had worked in Cleveland as a truck driver for Lisley's Brewery. He was a member of AMVETS Post #22 in Vermilion and St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and enjoyed yard work.

He is survived by a sister, Dawn Molnar of Vermilion; and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, March 1, 2000 and parents, Claude Bartholomew and step-mother and Lucile Burdue and step-father.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason Road, Vermilion, with the Rev. Steve Blum, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, officiating. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.
