June Doris Burrows, 83, Seamstress
June Doris Burrows (nee Oehlke), 83, died December 5, 2000 at Providence Care Center, Sandusky after a lengthy illness.Born July 11, 1917, in Neenah, Wisconsin, she has been a Vermilion resident since 1961.
She graduated from Century Technical School in Chicago, Illinois.
She was a seamstress doing alterations and making clothing. She also had a Plain Dealer motor route in the 1970s. Before WWII, she worked as a medical technician for an obstetrician in Neenah, Wisconsin then worked at Kimberly Clark making bandages and war time supplies.
She as a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational Church in Vermilion. She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary #397 in Vermilion and the Eastern Star Madeleine Chapter #204.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Rudy L. (Joli) Reising of Vermilion and Mrs. Michael (Amy) Burrows-McCabe of Marysville, Ohio; 4 sons, Rex Burrows of Brecksville, Ohio, Dana Burrows of Alexandria, VA, Kris Burrows of Yorktown, VA and 1 sister, Pearl Steiner of Appleton, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Barnes Burrows on March 4, 1975, 10 brothers and sisters William McKinley Oehlke, Harry Frederick Oehlke, Frank Herman Oehlke, DeForest Leo Oehlke, Viola Katherine Oehlke Splitt, Bernice Julia May Oehlke Dominic, Mildred Oehlke, Nina Oehlke.
Memorial services will be held at United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State St., Vermilion on Saturday, December 16, 2000 at 6:00 p.m. with the Reverend Wendall Brooker, pastor, officiating. A memorial service will be held on December 29, 2000 at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, Wisconsin. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, Wisconsin.
