Eleanor L. Dutton, 89, Church School Teacher

Eleanor L. Dutton, age 89, (nee Carstensen) formerly of Lorain died on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at Elyria Methodist Village in Elyria, OH after a brief illness.

She was born on August 13, 1911 in Lorain and was a graduate of Lorain High School of 1929 A.

Mrs. Dutton was a member of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church, serving as Church School Teacher for 30 years. She also served as the Superintendent of the Children's Work in the District and Conference of Women's Society of Christian Service of the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dutton had been a mid-week bible class teacher at Garfield School hostess with Welcome Wagon. She also belonged to Eastside Literary Club and several other social clubs in the city.

Mrs. Dutton was a 65 year member and past matron of the Day Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #479, charter member and first Supreme Worthy High Priestess of Lake Erie Shrine #47 in 1949-1950,Priestess of District 4 Order of Eastern Star in 1961.

She was noted for her reviews and talks on Helen Steiner Rice, noted Lorain Poet Laureate.

Mrs. Dutton is survived by several neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond LeRoy Dutton in 1957, her parents: August and Cora Ellen (nee Lane) Carstensen, brothers: James, William, Watson, George Simpson, Earl, Delbert and Henry Carstensen, sisters: Mary L. Norris, Cora Stang and Laura Reijking.

Friends may call at Schwartz, Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Friday, December 8, 2000 from 7-9pm.

Funeral services will be held on December 9, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Schwartz, Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals in Lorain, OH with Rev. J. Dennis Henkle, Pastor of the Delaware Avenue, United Methodist Church, officiating.

Mrs. Dutton will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp., OH.

Also, Day Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star has scheduled a memorial service for Friday, December 8, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. for Mrs. Dutton at the funeral home.
