Esther D. Joest, 91, Bookkeeper
Esther D. Joest (nee Doehring), 91 of Westlake, formerly of North Ridgeville, Avon Lake, and Mentor, passed away, Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the Lutheran Home, Westlake, following complications of congestive heart failure.
Mrs. Joest was born August 9, 1909 in Cleveland and had lived most of her adult life in Mentor. During retirement she had moved to Avon Lake, and had lived for several years in an apartment at the North Ridge Care Center, North Ridgeville, before moving to the Lutheran Home 6 years ago.
She had worked for a time as a bookkeeper for a metal recovery company in Cleveland and while living in Mentor, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, Westlake, and enjoyed spending time with her cousins, as well as gardening, reading and sewing.
Her husband Paul passed away in the late 1960's. She is survived by a niece Beverly Kruth of Avon Lake, great nephews Jeff Kruth and John Weber both of Avon Lake, a great niece Sarah Kruth of Avon Lake and a great-great nephew Michael Weber of Avon Lake. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Olga (nee Kehl) Doehring a brother Richard Joest and a niece Jane Weber.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, from 7:30-8:30pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2000 and for one hour before an 11:00am Funeral at the Funeral home, Thursday, December 28, 2000. Rev. Lynn Schlessman of Christ Evangelical Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Mentor Township Cemetery, Mentor.
