James R. Lucas, 76, WW II Veteran
James R. Lucas, 76 of Lorain died on Monday, December 25, 2000 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain following a long illness.Mr. Lucas was born on July 26, 1924 in Clearfield, PA, living in the Lorain area for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lorain.
Mr. Lucas was also a very active member of the Canadian Legion serving as Post commander, District commander and past Central Commander of 13 states.
He is survived by his wife Doris M. (nee Neely) Lucas, daughter: Donna J. Taranto of Lorain, four sons: David A. Lucas of Willoughby, OH, Richard L. Lucas, Thomas E. Lucas and James R. Lucas Jr. all of Lorain, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and his sister Florence Johns of Lorain.
Mr. Lucas is preceded in death by his parents: George A. and Selma E. (nee Young).
Friends may call at Schwartz, Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Thursday, December 28, 2000 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on December 29, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Schwartz, Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain with Rev. Evelyn Bonnell, pastor officiating.
James R. Lucas will be buried at Resthaven Memory Garden in Avon, OH with full military honors provided by VFW Post 451 of Lorain.
