Thelma M. Burge, 94, Queen City Chapter of Order of Eastern Star Member

Thelma M. Burge, 94, (nee Carson) died on Monday, December 25, 2000 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a brief illness.

Mrs. Burge was born on September 1, 1906 in Lorain and lived here her entire life.

In 1924, she was working for Richmond Brothers Clothing Manufacturers when the "great tornado" occurred. She often recalled that experience and held a great respect for incipient stormy weather.

She was a 25 year member of the Queen City Chapter of Order of Eastern Star and participated as Marshall. She was also a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and a 25 year member of the Social Order of Beauceants.

In 1932 she married Maurice H. Burge, developer and co-owner of The Burge Building Company, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1977.

She is survived by her three sons: Barry of Vermilion, Bruce of Lorain, Buddy L. of Avon, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Gertrude M. (nee Anthony) Carson, one grandson: Jeffrey L. Burge on October 12, 1993 and five brothers and sisters.

Thelma M. Burge will be buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, family graveside services are planned.
