Linda K. Katona, 59, US Kobe Steel
Linda K. Katona (nee Lelby), age 59, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a short illness.Born December 11, 1941, in Wellington, Ohio. She moved to North Ridgeville in 1946 and lived there until 1965 when she moved to Lorain.
She was a 1959 graduate of North Ridgeville High School and had attended the Elyria School of Cosmetology. She worked as the manager in the executive cafeteria of US Kobe Steel for 6 years, retiring in 1998. Prior to that she worked in the cafeteria at Invacare, Elyria and had also worked for the Lorain City Schools in the cafeteria. Prior to that she worked for various beauty salons in the Lorain and Cleveland area.
She enjoyed collecting teddy bears, cooking, gardening, roses, and planting flowers. She also enjoyed styling hair for her friends and relatives.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years: Alex C., 3 sons: Allen of Chicago, IL, David of Columbus, OH, and Brian of Pomeroy, OH, 5 grandchildren, brother Lester Lelby of Holiday, FL.
She was preceded in death by her father: Lester Lelby, mother: Eileen Riddell and step-father Kenneth Riddell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2000 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Szabolcs Kalman, pastor of West Side Hungarian Reformed Church, Cleveland, will officiate.
