Melvin F. "Mel" Jenkins, Jr., Body Shop Manager.

Melvin F. " Mel" Jenkins, Jr. 56 of Lorain died Saturday January 6, 2001 in
Community Health Partners, Lorain following a brief illness.

He was born July 9, 1944 in Holidaysburg, Pennsylvania. He came to Lorain in 1958.

Mel was the manager of Paul's Auto Body, Lorain for thirty years. Previous to
that he worked as a transmission specialist for Sliman's Dodge in Amherst and Dulemba's Transmission in Lorain.

Mel was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Lorain. He was a classic and antique car restoration enthusiast. He showed his 1938 Master Deluxe Chevrolet in many car shows allover Northeast Ohio. He was active with the Miss Ohio Scholarship program. He also enjoyed making quilts and collecting miniature cars.

Among the survivors is his wife of 34 years Donna (nee Attie) Jenkins, sons
Melvin Paul Jenkins and Michael A. Jenkins both of Lorain, daughter Melissa
A. Jenkins of Akron; sisters Alice Ann Geisel and Jammie Szabo both of Lorain, and one Granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Ruth (nee Fisher)Jenkins, Sr.

Friends may call Tuesday 5:00 to 9:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio. Where a Christian Wake service will be Tuesday 7:00 PM.

Funeral services will be Wednesday with closing prayers 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by 10:00 AM Mass of the resurrection in St Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain. Rev. John H. Elmer, Associate Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Ridge hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township.
