Hazel O. Howard, 93, Surgical Nurse
Hazel O. Howard (nee Olney), 93, of Avon Lake, formerly of Canfield, OH, passed away, Sunday, January 7, at the Corinthian Health Center, following complications of congestive heart failure.
Mrs. Howard was born, June 20, 1907 in Schenectady, NY and has lived for the last 3 years in Avon Lake. She was a homemaker, but before marriage she worked as a surgical nurse, from which she took great pride. She was a graduate of Albany Hospital School of
nursing, had traveled extensively and enjoyed painting.
Her husband, the late G.F. Howard, passed away in 1971. Mrs. Howard is survived by two daughters, Janet Werkmeister of TX and Nancy Eversman of Avon Lake. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, brothers James and Calvin Olney both of Canfield, and sisters, Bessie Bottger of Ft. Myers, FL and Ruth Wiley of Glens Falls, NY.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Anna C. (nee Clark) Olney, a daughter Barbara Bush, sisters Helen Stevens, Fanny Wolfe and Ida Wolfe (both last names are Wolfe) and a brother Hughes Olney.
