Juan Velez Rivera, 84, Enjoyed Gardening

Juan Velez Rivera, age 84, of Lorain, died Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at EMH Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Juan was born, October 25, 1916, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, and has been a Lorain resident since 1957.
He was a Pipe Coater for 25 years at Standard Pipe Protection, Lorain, and retired in 1982.
He belonged to Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal, as well as the Sociedad De Caballeros. His hobbies included, gardening, flower growing and Bible study.
Juan is survived by his 3 sons: Angel L Velez, John A. Velez, and Hector F. Velez, all of Lorain; 4 daughters: Anna M. Almodovar, of Lorain, Lilly Rodriguez, of Utuado, Puerto Rico, Judith Martinez, of Tampa, FL, and Doris Jimenez, of Lorain; 22 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters: Carmen Diaz, of Orlando, FL, and Felicita Velez, of San German, Puerto Rico.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carmen (nee Satiago), in 1994, parents, and one grandson, Rafael Rodriguez, in 1985.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2001, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Friends may also call on Saturday, January 13, 2001, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal, 301 W. 22 St., Lorain, with Rev. Luis Cintron, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst
