John Baldwin, 69, Army Veteran

John Baldwin, 69, of Vermilion, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, after a two year illness.
He was born August 2, 1931 in Lake, West Virginia and has been a Vermilion resident since 1960.
He was a spray booth painter for ITT (Lithonia Downlighting), Vermilion retiring in 1980.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.
He was a charter member of the First Assembly of God Church, Vermilion, a member of the DAV and Vermilion VFW Post #7576. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, fishing and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, to whom he was married 45 years; sons, John B. Baldwin, Jr., Vermilion and Darrell R. Baldwin, Glendale, Arizona; daughters, Debbie Powell, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Dottie Cioffi, Amherst; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Claude Baldwin, Vermilion and Paul Baldwin, Englewood, Florida; and a sister Naomi Thompson, Sharpless, WV. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Baldwin, brothers, Bobby, Fielden, Hassel, Charlie and Clyde Baldwin and his parents, William Henderson and Eunice Pearl (nee Nelson) Baldwin.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Evening Veteran Services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon at the funeral home. The Reverend Chuck Davis, pastor of the First Assembly of God, will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
