Katherine Martin, 82, Enjoyed Crocheting

Katherine Martin (nee DeMark), 82, died Friday morning, January 19, 2001 at Firelands Community Hospital after a 7 month illness.

She was born August 5, 1918 in Boomer, West Virginia and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 20 years moving from Sandusky. She worked as a receiving clerk at Hills Department Store in Sandusky, for 20 years retiring in 1980.

She attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. She enjoyed crocheting, and adopting stray cats.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Lewis Martin of Bowling Green, Ohio and Dennis J. Martin of Huron; 2 grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Oliver of Boomer, West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1980; brothers, Joseph DeMarco, Tony DeMark, Sam DeMarco and John DeMark, and a sister, Mary Wickard.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Prayers will be said in the funeral home, on Tuesday at 11:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street Vermilion, with the Reverend Steve Blum, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Huron.
