Michael Tansey, 56, Vietnam Veteran

Michael Tansey, 56, died Tuesday morning, January 23, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Sandusky after an illness with Multiple Sclerosis since 1984.

He was born on October 6, 1944 in Sandusky, Ohio and had been a life long resident of Vermilion before moving in 1995 to the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a contractor and owned and operated Tansey Construction in Vermilion and sold real estate for Castle Reality. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion and the Vermilion VFW Post #7576. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by his sons, Paul M. Tansey of Lorain, Jack M. Tansey of Berlin Heights, and Chistopher S. Tansey of Elyria; 1 daughter, Jennifer Tansey of Lorain; his mother, Ernestine (nee Sartor) Tansey of Vermilion; 6 Grandchildren; 5 brothers, Ronald of Huntington Beach, CA, John of Vermilion, Gerald of Howey-In- the-Hills, FL, Frank Tansey of Smithville, Kentucky, and Patrick Tansey of Vermilion; 4 Sister, Sharon Tansey Kernell, of Vermilion, Diane Tansey Socha of Amherst, Janet Tansey of Vermilion, and Sally Tansey Emory of Orlando, FL,. His father, Frank Tansey, Sr preceded him in death.

Friends may call Thursday, January 25, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion where a Christian Wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be said Friday, Janaury 26, 2001 at 11:30 at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. Father Steve Bloom, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion where there will be a military graveside service.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 415 Tomahawk Drive, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
