Joseph F. Maziarz, 54, Vietnam Veteran
Joseph F. Maziarz, age 54, of Lorain, died Monday, February 5, 2001, in his home, after a lengthy illness.He was born, January 28, 1947, in Lorain, and has been a resident here his entire life. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1965. He later joined the Air Force, serving as Sergeant during Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and SAEMR medals.
He was an Electronic Technician at NASA for 31 years, retiring in January of 2001. He also was an Amateur Radio Operator with call letters - K8BIU. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, and the Holy Name Society. He also was an adult server, Eucharistic Minister, and was in charge of setting all of the church clocks.
He is survived by his son, Kevin S., of Lorain; daughters: Karen M. Maziarz, of Toledo, Julie A. Satonick, of Elyria, and Jill M. Marziarz, of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; mother Helen M. (nee Knitter) Maziarz, of Lorain; brothers: John F., Jr., James J., and Stanley A., all of Lorain; sisters: Mary F. Dunfee-Schatz, of Rochester Twp., Anne M. Davis, and Frances M. Tolson, both of Lorain, and Jolen A. Maziarz, of Akron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Maziarz, in 1988, and sister Mary Ann Maziarz, in 1945.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 7, 2001, from 5-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria, Ave., Lorain. Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2001, at noon, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th St., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Robert Glepko, pastor will officiate, assisted by Rev. Deacon Robert Dybo. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
