Robert R. Galbraith, 75, WWII Veteran
Robert R. Galbraith, 75 of Lorain died on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon, OH after a long illness.He was born on May 1, 1925 in Scottsdale, PA and has lived in the Lorain area for more than 65 years. Mr. Galbraith was a 1943 graduate of Lorain High School. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He was involved in the Battle of Luzon and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired as an electrician for Lorain Board of Education.
Mr. Galbraith is survived by his wife Elsie L. (nee Jalelsky) Galbraith, his daughter, Mary Ann Shildwachter of Lorain, his two sons, Jerry M. Galbraith of Avon Lake, OH and Richard R. Galbraith of Elyria, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother Jim Galbraith of Lorain.
Mr. Galbraith is preceded in death by his parents: V. Hugh and Edna K. (Renner) Galbraith, and one daughter: Karen Galbraith.
Private family graveside services will be on Friday, February 9, 2001 at Ride Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, OH.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035-1051.
