Gabor Pongracz Jr., 91, Avid Baseball Fan
Gabor Pongracz Jr., 91, of Lorain died Thursday, February 8, 2001 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.Mr. Pongracz was born November 14, 1909 in Wheeling, West Virginia, living most of his life in Lorain.
He retired in 1972 after 34 yeas as an inspector at U.S. Steel, Lorain. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain, and was an avid Baseball fan.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth of Lorain; Daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Rosemary) Pincura of Lorain; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Pongracz of Dewey, AZ; sister, Anne Mollison of Sun City AZ.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel R. in 1983, his parents Gabor and Mary (nee Fekete) Pongracz, and 2 brothers Joseph and Charles.
Friends may call at Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Monday, February 12, 2001 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
