Vernon R. Stewart, 72, WW II Veteran
Vernon R. Stewart, 72 of Lorain died on Friday, February 9, 2001 at his home.He was born on October 31, 1928 in Kittaning, PA and lived in the Lorain area for the last 52 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He retired from the tool and die department of US Steel in Lorain.
Mr. Stewart was a member of the Wings of Faith Church in Lorain.
He was a noted handy man, reputed to be able to repair anything. He especially enjoyed cars, welding and woodworking.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his two daughters, Susan Cruz of Pinellas Park, FL, and Sharie A. Veliz of Lorain, 2 grandchildren, his sisters: Pearline Black, Florence Reesman both of Kittaning, PA, Dorothy Lorigan of Ford City, PA and his brother Albert Stewart of Ravenna, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Janet Elaine (nee Walters), his parents: Martin and Margaret (nee Hill) Stewart, and his sister Jean Atherton.
Friends may call at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH on Tuesday, February 13, 2001 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals in Lorain, with Rev. Dale L. Hawes, pastor of Wings of Faith Church, officiating.
Vernon R. Stewart will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp.
