Wilbur R. "Bill" Parker, 70, US Air Force and Ford Motor Company

Wilbur R. "Bill" Parker, 70, of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at University Hospital of Cleveland following a 3-month illness.

Born November 28, 1930 in Kenova, West Virginia, he had lived in Florida for 10 years, but lived most of his life in Vermilion.

He served in the US Air Force for 20 years as a Procurement Officer, stationed in Panama City, FL, England, N. Africa, Saudi Arabia and Texas.

He worked for Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 18 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of AMVETS Post 22 in Vermilion, American Legion Post 397 in Vermilion. He was an avid pool player and at one time won the Northeast Ohio AMVETS Pool Championship. He also enjoyed golf.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Claudie "Michelle" (nee Bertier) of Florida; 3 sons, Frank of Columbus, Jeff and Lance, both of Wakeman; daughters, Danielle Leno of Pensacola, FL and Desiree Parker of Wakeman; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Eddie of Wakeman, Donald Ray of Montana, Burton of Utah, Clinton of Colorado, Clifford of Kentucky and Larry of Texas; sister, Clara Massey of Kenova, WV. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Parker, and brothers, Ernest, Hobart and Johnny.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4/7-9 at Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South Street, Vermilion where the Vermilion Veteran’s Council will conduct military honors at 7pm. A Funeral Service will be on Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home. Rev. Jerry Anderson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vermilion will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
