Bienvenido Garcia, 52, Pusher in Brick Laying

Bienvenido Garcia, age 52, of Lorain, died Monday, February 12, 2001, at his residence after a short illness, while under the care of New Life Hospice.

Born on April 1, 1948 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain as a youngster of 4 years old.

He was a pusher in the Brick Laying Department at Lorain Works USS for 21 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that he worked in the shipping department for Fruehauf Trailer.

Bienvenido was a member of the Iglesia Manantial de Agua Viva.

He was a member of U.S. Steel Workers Union Local #1104. His interests included working on cars, music and watching sports.

He is survived by his wife: Chaida Garcia (nee Arroyo); mother: Juanita Garcia (nee Negron) of Lorain; son: B.J. of Lorain; 3 stepsons: Junito Rivera, Danny Rivera, all of Lorain; stepdaughter: Cathy Rivera of Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Rev. Isralel Garcia of Tampa, FL, Freddy and Frank, Jr. both of Lorain; 2 sisters: Juana Rivera and Lillian Garcia, both of Lorain; 12 nieces and 12 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Francisco Garcia in 1997 and his brother Banjamin Garcia in 1983.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 14, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Iglesia Manantial de Agua Viva, 2400 Kelly Place, Lorain. Services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2001 at 12:00 Noon at Iglesia Manantial de Agua Viva. Rev. Juan A. Rivera, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
