Josephine E. Campana, 76, Volunteer, Mother and Grandmother
Josephine E. Campana, (nee Steimel), 76, of Lorain, died Monday Feb. 12, at Community Health Partners Hospital West, following a sudden illness.Mrs. Campana was born Feb. 6, 1925 in Bicknel, Indiana. She resided most of her adult life in Lorain.
She had been employed as a telephone operator at Indiana Bell in Indiana, and at the American Ship Building Co., in Lorain.
She was a member of the church of St. Peter, Lorain, the Legion of Mary and the church choir at St. Mary Church in Lorain.
She was a volunteer at the Hunger Center on 8th St., and a 20-year volunteer at Oak Hills Nursing Home. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and active in the Animal Protective League.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Mrs. Campana is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael; two daughters, Cindy Campana of Lorain, and Toni Davis of Vermilion; two sons, Paul of Mansfield, and Tom of Westerville; seven grandchildren; and sister, Vonedia Fowler of Vincennes, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tony and Nellie (nee Burns) Steimel, a son Michael 6-18, 1957, and a sister, Bea Leonard.
Friends may call at Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, with the Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, Pastor officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
