Dominic P. Burrelli, 92, Veteran, Crane Operator
Dominic P. Burrelli, 92, of Lorain died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following an illness of several months.Mr. Burrelli was born Sept. 21, 1908, in Butler, Pa, coming to Lorain in 1927.
Mr. Burrelli served in the U.S. Navy from 1931-1935 serving in the South Pacific and the Panama Canal.
He had employed as a Crane operator at U.S. Steel in Lorain retiring in 1973.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, and the Italian Americans Veterans Post #1, both in Lorain.
He enjoyed baseball and gardening.
Surviving is a son, Paul A. Burrelli of Lorain, and 2 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edith (nee Pignitella) Burrelli, 10-5-1997, a daughter Donna Marie Burrelli, 1951, his parents Nicholas and Marie (nee DelGrosso) Burrelli, and a sister Valverda Maurantonio.
Friends may call at Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where the IAV will hold a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Saturday 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 East Erie Ave., Lorain, with Rev. John Elmer, associate pastor officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
Memorials suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Italian American Veterans Post #1.
