Ruth L. Diekman, 95, Retired Nurse
Ruth L. Diekman, age 95, of Elyria, died Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at Elyria United Methodist Village following a lengthy illness.Born on January 9, 1906, in Seymour, Indiana, she moved to Cincinnati in the 1920's. She then came to Elyria in 1994.
She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
She was a Nurses' Supervisor in the Ears, Nose and Throat Department of Bethesda Hospital, Cincinnati as well as working as a private nurse.
Ruth was a member of the Retired Nurses Association and was a strong animal activist over the years. She enjoyed taking care of animals.
She is survived by her niece, Deborah J. Zanglin of Vermilion; and nephew Kenneth Poore of Heber, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1975; her parents: William and Della (nee Hughes) Poore; and her 2 brothers: William and Roy.
Services were private. Arrangements were handled by the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
