Endre Takacs, 89, WWII Veteran, Foundry Worker

Endre Takacs, 89 of Copley died Saturday February 24, 2001 in Akron General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 5, 1911 in Csorna, Hungary. He was a refugee of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. He lived in La Louviere, Belgium for 5 years before coming to Lorain in 1961. Then he moved to Elyria in 1963, where he lived until 1991. Mr. Takacs Became a United States Citizen in 1973.

Mr. Takacs retired from The Elyria Foundry in 1978 as a maintenance worker.

He was a World War Veteran serving in the Hungarian Army.

Mr. Takacs attended St Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain. He was active member of the Hungarian Young Men's Society. He enjoyed woodworking and cooking.

Among the survivors are his sons Andre Takacs of Grafton, Ohio and Attila Takacs of Budapest, Hungary; daughter Elizabeth Sasdi also of Budapest; sister Elizabeth Cibrik of North Royalton, Ohio; and six Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife 36 years Anna; his parents Andras and Elizabeth (nee Boda) Takacs; brothers Miklos and Janos Takacs; and a sister Margit Nygeres.

Friends may call Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio. Funeral service will be Wednesday 8:30 AM in the funeral home followed by 9:00 AM Mass in St. Ladislaus Church, east 29th Street and Wood avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Father Patrick Shields, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
