Donald E. Greeley, 74, WWII Veteran

Donald E. Greeley, 74, of Elyria and formerly of Sheffield Lake passed away Sunday, February 25, at his home in the Elyria Methodist Village following a short illness.

He was born August 31, 1926 in Lorain and resided in Sheffield Lake most of his life until moving to Elyria over two years ago.

Donald was a graduate of Brookside High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a production scheduler at R.W. Beckett, North Ridgeville retiring in 1988. Prior to his employment at R.W. Beckett he was employed at Fruehauf, Avon Lake.

He was a member of the Vintage 55 Club and enjoyed videotaping chapel services and activities at the Elyria Methodist Village. He also enjoyed bowling, woodcrafts and photography.

Mr. Greeley is survived by two nephews, and served as guardian for one of them, Larry Greeley of Sheffield Village, when Larry's father Harold passed away when he was 16.

In addition to his brother Harold he was preceded in death by another brother, Charles and his parents, Charles and Olive (nee Hill) Greeley.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Tuesday, February 27 from 6 - 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, February 28 at 10 a.m. Rev. Beth A. McKee, chaplain of the Elyria Methodist Home will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
