Leona K. Karas, 84, Enjoyed Crocheting
Leona K. Karas (nee Klingshirn), 84, a life long resident of Avon, passed away, Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at St. John West Shore Hospital, following a short illness.Mrs. Karas was born April 13, 1916 in Avon, graduated from Avon High School in 1933. Mrs. Karas was a homemaker, member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Avon and enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, cats and dogs.
Her husband of 44 years, Walter J. passed away in 1982. She is survived by a son Dennis A. (Lee Anne) of Avon Lake, son George J. (Marian) of Wellington, grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel and Alex and great grandchildren Brianna and Jacob. Others survivors include a brother Hearon Klingshirn of Elyria. Besides her husband, Mrs. Karas is preceded by a son Alan W. and parents, Anton and Edith (nee Kriebel) Klingshirn.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 3200 Detroit Rd., Avon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001. Prayer Service at the funeral home will be Friday, March 2, 2001 at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon. Father Thomas Cleaton of the church will officiate. Interment will follow in the church's cemetery.
