Janet M. Nehls, 64, Highway Worker

Janet M. Nehls, (nee Mamere), 64, formerly of Vermilion, died Friday, march 2, at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, Amherst following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Nehls was born June 16, 1936 in Cleveland. She was a graduate of West Tech High School in Cleveland. She had been employed at O.D.O.T as a highway worker and also at Lorain County Domestic Relations.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and formerly active at St. John the Baptist Church in Lorain. Other memberships include the Democratic Women's Club where she held the office of vice president and the United Polish Club both of Lorain, the Amvets Post #22 in Vermilion. She enjoyed fishing and family activities.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald J. of Florida and Daniel P. of Vermilion, daughter, Carrie M. of Vermilion, 6 grandchildren, brothers, Russell Mamere of Huron and Terry Mamere of Vermilion, sister Elizabeth "Betty" Schultz of Vermilion.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald L. Nehls, April 14, 1977, and her parents, Russell J. and Lillian (nee Gallagher) Marmere.

The family will receive friends to celebrate the life of Janet on Monday, March 05, 2001 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Reidy-Scanland-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway Ave., Lorain.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst with the Rev. James Schmitz, associate pastor officiating.

Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
