Harold M. Blankenship, 81, Barber
Harold M. Blankenship, 81 of Amherst, died early Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001 at his home in Amherst.Mr. Blankenship was born on August 18, 1919 in Lewis County, KY moving to the Lorain area in 1947. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II. He was a 54-year member of the American Legion Post #30 of Lorain and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #451 of Lorain.
He was a barber, who owned and operated the Blankenship Barber Shop in Elyria.
Mr. Blankenship is survived by his wife Ruth Blankenship (nee James), his five daughters, Cindy Blankenship-Adcox of Midland, TX, Judy Elsten of Amherst, OH, DeeDee Gascoine of Huron, OH, Becky Lutz of Amanda, OH, and Donna Lyons of Dublin, OH, his son, Rodney Blankenship of Lorain, OH, 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his sister Flora Belle Bixby of Columbus, OH.
He is preceded in death by his son, Tony Blankenship on October 3, 1997, his parents, William J. and Corra Belle (nee Osborne) Blankenship and his brother Osborne Blankenship.
Friends may call at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Friday, March 9, 2001 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on March 10, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals in Lorain with Rev. Chris Hughes, pastor of Tower Baptist Church officiating.
Harold M. Blakenship will be buried at Resthaven Memory Garden in Avon with full military burial honors provided by V.F.W. Post #451.
