Irene E. Rokasy, 83, Enjoyed Music
Irene E. Rokasy (nee Horvath), age 83, of Lorain, died Friday, march 9, 2001 at the residence of her son, Michael, following a lengthy illness.Born on August 23, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio, her parents brought her to Lorain as a small child. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1935B.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed music, playing both the organ and piano, gardening, traveling, and was an avid reader.
She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church where she belonged to the Virgin Mary Society.
Irene is survived by her 2 sons: Michael C, Jr. of Amherst and John S. of Oberlin; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael C. Sr. in 1998 and brother John M. in 1961.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 12, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain where services will be Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. followed by 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Father Patrick Shields, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Virgin Mary Society will conduct a Rosary Service on Mayor at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
