Dorothy "Dot" McCartney, 78, Nurse

Dorothy M. "Dot" McCartney, (nee Stewart), age 78, died on Sunday morning, March 11, 2001 at Community Health Partners and Surgical Center West in Lorain following a short illness.

Mrs. McCartney was born on January 15, 1923 in Winipeg, Ontario, Canada living in Lorain since she was 3 years old. She was a graduate of Lorain High School and the nursing school at Elyria Memorial Hospital. She is a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.

She was a licensed practical nurse during WW II. She spent many years as a volunteer helper at both St. Joseph's Hospital and Lorain Community Hospital.

She was a lover of literature and the arts, a voracious reader and a spiritual enthusiast.

Mrs. McCartney survived by her husband of 57 years: Charles McCartney, her daughter, Bonnie Manzari of New York, New York, her three sons, Charles M. McCartney of Bakersfield, CA, Keith McCartney of Fredericksburg, VA and Kenneth McCartney of Lorain and one grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Angus James and Stella (nee Giroux) Stewart.

Memorial services will be held on March 13, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, with Rev. John C. Gross, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church officiating.
