Donald L. Emerick, 71, US Navy Veteran
Donald L. Emerick, 71, of Lorain died Monday, March 19, 2001 at his residence following a brief illness.He was born on April 12, 1929 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1947 graduate of Lorain High School and attended Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Emerick was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church in Lorain, where he had served as head usher since 1952. He was past president of the Holy Name Society, a member of the church's Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus.
He was retired in 1992 from the Ford Motor Co., Lorain Assembly Plant. He had worked at the former Freuehauf Trailer Co.
Mr. Emericak was a "model railroader" and enjoyed collecting toy trains. He also enjoyed photography and computering.
He is survived by a daughter Leslie Ann Emerick of Lorain, sons: Donald Jerome Emerick of Columbus, James Mark Emerick of Dearborn, MI, three grandchildren and sister Janice Goyette of Medina.
Mr. Emerick was preceded in death by his wife: Jacqueline Ann (nee Sapieza) Emerick on June 18, 1997, his parents: Laurence F. and Loretta (nee Weiss) Emerick and a brother Kenneth Paul Emerick..
Friends may call at Schwatz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Friday, March 23, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. in Schwartz, Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 310 Eighth Street, Lorain, Ohio with Rev. Michael Williamson as celebrant.
Donald J. Emerick will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
