Margaret E. DeWitt, 84, Clerk
Margaret E. DeWitt, (nee Christman), 84 of Lorain, died Monday evening, March 19, 2001 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Center, Lorain following a long illness.Mrs. DeWitt was born August 2, 1016 in Oakland, MD, coming to the Lorain area in 1951. She had been employed as a waitress for 6 years at the former Brady's Restaurant, and retired as a clerk at the former Hough Bakery, both of Lorain. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #552, Lorain.
Survivors include 3 sons: Glenn DeWitt of Norwalk, Darrell DeWitt of Lorain and Jerry DeWitt of Wakeman, 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, sister, Leona Dillinger of Uniontown, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milton R. DeWitt, July 17, 1992, a son Donald R. in 1937, her parents Jacob and Bertha (nee Welch) Christman, brothers Raymond, Charles, Harry and Irvin, and sisters Elva Hooten and Edith Keefer.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2001 at the Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 23, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Newberry, Pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy, Vermilion.
Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
