Scottie C. Dillon, 86, World War II Veteran

OBERLIN, OH -- Scottie C. Dillon, 86, of Oberlin, passed away Thursday March 22 at his home following a lengthy illness. He moved to Oberlin eight years ago coming from Sheffield Lake where he resided the previous thirty years. Mr. Dillon was born March 25, 1914 in Centralia, Braxton County, West Virginia. He worked in the coalmines until serving as a sharpshooter in the military police of the U.S. Marine Corp. in China at the conclusion of World War II. After moving to Ohio, he worked for 23 years at the Fuehof Trailor Co. in Avon Lake and also 9 years as a security officer at K-Mart Corp. Lorain. He and his wife enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and watching the wildlife in their backyard. He also enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Dillon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathryn J. (nee Ocheltree); a daughter, Kathy (Mrs. Ron) Gresco of Oberlin; and a son, Alan Jerry of Caudwell, Ohio; Two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover L. and Katherine (nee Cutlip); a sister, Josephine Bleigh, and two infant brothers.

Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 3200 Detroit Rd. Avon from 4-8pm. Sunday. Services will be held at the funeral home Monday March 26 at 1:30pm. Rev. Bill Tumbleson, New Life Hospice chaplain, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Rd.
