William F. Hoose, 77, World War II Veteran
Willia Floyd Hoose, 77, of Avon Lake passed away Friday, March 30 at Lakewood Hospital, Lakewood following a lengthy illness. He was born February 10, 1924 in Alhambra, California and moved to Avon Lake from Cleveland in 1959. He served in the Navy during World War II at Guadalcanal in the Asiatic-Pacific as an Aviation Ordnanceman, second class. Mr. Hoose was employed as a truck driver for American Express. He attended St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and was a member of the Edgewater Yacht Club, Cleveland for over forty years, the American Legion Post 211, Avon Lake and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed sailing, automobiles and motorcycles.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia (nee Frantz); two sons, William of Avon and Phillip of Avon Lake; two daughters, Denise Hanzel of Elyria and Jill Hoose of Avon; and five grandchildren. His mother, Cecilia Mueller preceded him in death.
Cryptside services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens Freedom Chapel Mausoleum, 3700 Center Rd. Avon on Monday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor, pastor of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake will officiate. Memorials may be forwarded to the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, 3601 South Green Rd, Cleveland, Ohio 44122.
