John Baranchik, 90, Clock and Watch Repairman

Born April 27, 1910 in Ideal, Ohio, he has lived in Elyria for the past 60 years.

Mr. Baranchik was a self-employed clock and watch repairman for 50 years. Prior to that he worked in the coal mines in Noble County, Ohio.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, and the Holy Name Society. An active member of the church, he was a volunteer worker at bingo and kitchen baking and catering events.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (nee Yuhas), a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Arnold of Grafton, 2 grandchildren, Amy Arnold of Grafton and Matt Arnold of Findley, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother Paul of Akron, sisters, Helen Colgan of PA, Wilma Baranchik of Tallmadge, OH, and Irene Schwinn of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wasil and Helen (nee Kosay) Baranchik, brothers, William, Andrew, and Nicholas, sisters, Mary Hopchak, and Anna Lopata.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a parastas service will be at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7th at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Batcha, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
