George Janapolis, 78, Jan Jewelers Owner
George Janapolis, 78, of Avon Lake formerly of Cleveland, passed away, Saturday, April 7, 2001 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, following a brief illness.Mr. Janapolis was born, August 2, 1922 in Haverhill, Mass. And had lived in Avon Lake since 1955.
Mr. Janapolis was a jeweler and owner of Jan jewelers in Avon lake for 36 years and was semi-retired. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was also an avid pilot, owning and building his own planes. When he was no long able to fly, he took up flying remote control model airplanes.
His wife of 55 years, the late Stella (nee Malamas) past away, May 25 of last year. He is survived by 2 sons, Michael of Avon Lake, and George of Phoenix, a sister Victoria Logos of Elyria and half-sisters, Connie and Betsy. Besides his parents, Charles and Bernadette (nee Beuragard) Janapolis, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna and a half brother William Janapolis.
A memorial visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake. Cremation by Busch Crematory.
