Edgar J. Maners, 79, Assembler
Edgar L. Maners, age 79, of Vermilion, died suddenly Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at Community Health Partners in Lorain.Born in Lauderdale County, Tennessee on September 4, 1921, he had been a Vermilion resident since 1958 moving from Ripley, Tennessee. He retired from the Ford Motor Company-Lorain Plant in 1980 after 32 years as an assembler. Following his retirement, he repaired washers and dryers, enjoyed gardening and camping. He was a member of the Harbourtown Community Church in Vermilion.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie (nee Spoon) of Vermilion; 3 daughter, Janie Sue Massey of Elyria, Lois Thompson of Ft. Worth, Texas and Teresa Goforth of Vermilion; a son, bill Maners of Berlin Heights; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Maryann Moran of Union City, Tennessee; 2 brothers, Garland of Henning, Tennessee and Montell of Ripley, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary (nee Land) Maners; a sister, Ravennell Ammons; and a brother, Lewis.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 13, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where a funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday. The Rev. Jim Cooper, pastor of Harbourtown Community church, and retired pastor, Lindy West will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum, Huron.
