Jean I. Jones, 81, Secretary

Mrs. Jones was born on August 28, 1919 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1937B in 1938, she graduated from Oberlin School of Commerce. She was a member of the First Congregational Church where she served as a Deaconess. Mrs. Jones had been employed with the Lorain City Schools as a secretary in the clerks office for 5 years and as a secretary at Longefellow School for 20 years.

She was a member of the School Employees Retirement Organization national Day Auxiliary, A.A.R.P. and an active member of the Lorain High School Adult Booster Club for many years.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband John I. Jones, her two sons, James Jones of Charlotte, NC and Robert Jones of Lorain, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Elizabeth "Bess" (nee Lewis) Burgess, and her sister Betty Kleefeld.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 433 Washington Ave, Lorain with Rev. Dr. David E. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
