Victor John Monz Jr., 68, of Lorain, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Rae Ann Suburban Nursing Home, Westlake following a short illness.Mr. Monz was born December 20, 1932 in Cleveland, residing in Lorain the last 24 years.
Mr. Monz served in the U.S. Navy from February 1950 to October 1953. He was an owner-operator of the Marine Contracting Inc. in Lorain doing projects such as the restoration of the Lorain Lighthouse and other projects on the Great Lakes.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain.
Survivors include his wife Marianne (nee Smith) Monz, daughters: Deborah Stoner of Sarasota, FL and Louanne Van Bemmelen of Missouri City, Texas, sons, Victor J. Monz, III of Hermit, CA, Thomas Nather of North Ridgeville and Daniel Nather of Cincinnati, 5 grandchildren, sister, Celeste Pierce of Madison, OH, cherished and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor J., Sr. and Margaret (nee Koster) Monz, and a brother Thomas L. Monz.
Family and friends are to meet directly at the church for a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday at St. Anthony Padua Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain with the Rev. Regis Schlagaheck, Pastor officiating.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #451, Lorain.
