Robert Allan Hassel Sr., N69, Bio-Plastics Business Partner

Robert Allan Hassel, Sr., 69, of North Ridgeville and formerly of Avon and Avon lake communities passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 5, 1931 in Cleveland and grew up in Avon and resided in Avon lake from 1971 to 1989. He serviced in the Navy during the Korean War. Since 1982, he has been a business partner of Bio-Plastics, North Ridgeville. Prior to that he worked for 34 years at B.F. Goodrich, Avon Lake before taking an early retirement. Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Avon and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the outdoors and spending time at the family cabin in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hassel is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (nee Biehl); two daughters, Patricia Oprzadek of Seville and Kathleen Peak of Tampa, Florida; and a son Robert Allan Jr., of Streetsboro; and seven grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Eileen Hassel; a sister Joan Richards and his parents, Arthur Lawrence and Marcella (nee Resar) Hassel.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2001. Prayer Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 9:15 a.m. followed by the mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, 33601 Detroit Road, Avon, at 10:00 a.m. Father John Misenko, pastor of Holy Trinity Church will officiate. A private committal service will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
