Vernon F. Forrider, 85, Inspector, B & O Railroad
Vernon F. Forrider, 85 of Lorain died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Community Health Partners Hospital, West following a long illness.Mr. Forrider was born January 10, 1916 in Broadway, Ohio coming to the Lorain area in 1935.
He retired in 1977 after 40 years with the B & O Railroad as an inspector. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church. He enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, and was a train enthusiast.
Survivors include 2 sons: Vernon LeRoy Forrider of Ocala, FL and Thomas E. Forrider of Elyria, 3 daughters: Marilyn J. Whitt of Lorain, Martha A. Crawford of Clearwater, FL and Carol M. Litten of Amherst; 32 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren, sister, Thelma Shaw of Bridgewater.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth N. (nee Lynn) Forrider on June 12, 2000, sons John A. Forrider and Terrence P. Lynn, his parents Clarence and Edna (nee Beard) Forrider, a brother Cyril Forrider and a sister Cleo Hickman.
Friends may call at the Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home 2150 Broadway Ave., Lorain on Friday, April 27, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Major Bob and Doris Thomas of the Salvation Army officiating.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
