John F. Drstvensek, 82, Trainmaster
John F. Drstvensek, age 82, of Lorain died Monday, May 1, 2001 in the critical care unit of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West following a brief illness.He was born June 25, 1918 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and attended Ferndale High School in Johnstown. He had been a resident of Lorain since 1943.
A World War II veteran of the US Army Air Corps, he served as a private first class with the 80th Fighter Group of the 90th Fighter Squadron.
He was emplo9yed as a trainmaster with the Lake Terminal Railroad Company retiring in 1975 following 30 years of service.
He was an avid golfer and a fan of all professional sports. Additional interest includes travel.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agnes (nee Tomazin), a son, John of Columbus, and a daughter, Elaine Edgar of Worthington, Ohio, 3 grandsons, and a sister: Josephine Kamnikar of Johnstown, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Mary (nee Smerc) Drstvensek, and by a sister Mary Pavlick.
Friends may call Friday, May 4, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2001 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Ss. Cyril funeral chapel and will be followed by his funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 1705 East 31st Street, Lorain. The Rev. Paul Krajnik, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
