John P. Carrier, 90, Inspector
John P. Carrier, age 90, of Lorain, died May 4, 2001 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness. He was born May 4, 1911 in Lorain and had been a resident of the city for most of his life having also lived in Amherst.A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter (Lorain), he had been employed as an inspector with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company for 47 years.
An avid fisherman, he enjoyed reading-especially nature-oriented stories. He also enjoyed the company of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter: Geraldine Fitzpatrick of Lorain, 4 grandsons, 3 great grandchildren, brother: James Carrier of Lorain and sister: Angeline Palermo also of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Florence (nee Quashnefski) in 1976, by his parents: Frank and Mary (nee Nardona) Carrier and a brother: Paschal "Patsy" Carieri (derivation of spelling) in 1996.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel- 3224 Broadway- Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by his funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter- 3501 Oberlin Avenue- Lorain. The Rev. G. Michael Williamson, associate pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery- Lorain.
